Plate of Origin is back for 2019
The annual Plate of Origin competition showcasing the best food from across New Zealand is back for 2019. Hosted in Manawatu, eight local restaurants will partnered with eight of the best restaurants from around the country. Each partnership creates one main dish, highlighting two key ingredients to represent their partner restaurant’s region and Manawatu-Whanganui. Plate of Origin 2019 is run in association with Cuisine, the magazine for New Zealand foodies.
All dishes are available on the Manawatu restaurants’ menus for two weeks from 2 – 16 March for diners to experience, as part of the New Zealand AgriFood Week 2019.
Check out 2018’s winning team, Nero Restaurant and Cibo – our Manawatu-Auckland team with chefs Scott Kennedy and Kate Fay taking out the competition with their winning dish. The dish featured Kahuterawa Angus sirloin, with flavours of Te Mataku oysters, crispy beef tenderloins, heirloom tomatoes and sticky beef Bon Bon – this delectable culinary delight features hero products from both Manawatu and Auckland regions.
