See how the 2017 Plate of Origin competition shaped up!!

Plate of Origin, in association with Cuisine Magazine and Visa Wellington On a Plate, and supported by Chef’s ChoiceWharerata, and NZ Chef’s Association, kicked off on Monday 12th September with 10 local restaurants being allocated a region from across the country. The Palmerston North and Manawatu restaurants now have a month to find a restaurant in their allocated region and work with them to create a dish for the competition in March.

Plate of Origin features the best produce from across the country with each partnership featuring two hero ingredients from the region they represent. The dishes will be on sale in local restaurants March 14-18 2017, as part of New Zealand AgriFood Investment Week.

Top class judges, Cuisine Magazine Editor Kelli Brett and UCOL Chef Tutor Mark Smith, will return to judge in 2017.

Wharerata will host a special showcase evening highlighting the best produce from Manawatu and Whanganui on Thursday 16th March.
